In 1999 Peterson & Smith established their state-of-the-art reproductive center. This 86-acre facility provides a broad spectrum of equine breeding services for the mare and stallion throughout Florida. A recipient herd of mares is maintained for embryo transfer. The clinic also accepts cooled, shipped embryos for transfer into recipient mares. In addition, this facility offers reproductive evaluation and treatment of mares for fertility problems, as well as management of mares for insemination with frozen and cooled semen. Stallion services include breeding soundness examinations and fertility work-ups, as well as semen collection for cooled transport.
As a Select Breeders Affiliate Laboratory, Peterson & Smith is able to offer stallion owners proven methods for processing the highest quality frozen semen. The Peterson & Smith Equine Reproduction Facility is also approved by the USDA for semen freezing for export outside the US and stallion owners will benefit from Select Breeders Service's international network of laboratories for storage and distribution of semen.
A well established practice, Peterson & Smith was named as the 2005 Ocala/Marion County Chamber of Commerce's "Equine Business of the Year".
