Breeders Support for Stallion Clients
The Select Breeders Quality Control program for affiliate laboratories requires that test freezes from all new stallions and a minimum of 20% of all subsequent freezes are sent to the SBS central laboratory for evaluation. Samples are submitted on a quarterly basis and each affiliate lab receives a report and an overall percentage score. The report is divided into two sections. Fifty percent of the report is dependent upon agreement on the post-thaw quality. We believe that when subjected to independent analysis any semen frozen by Select Breeders Service should accurately represent the quoted sperm concentration and post-thaw motility and be clean of bacterial contamination or mare pathogens. Collection data sheets and freeze records are also submitted to the central laboratory and the remaining fifty percent of the report is based on the evaluation of stallion management and implementation of SBS Standard Operating Procedures. Site visits, frequent communication to assist in troubleshooting difficult freezing stallions, use of the resources on our company-wide intranet site and annual technical meetings for all network affiliates round out the Affiliate Laboratory Quality Control Program.
